PCSynergy Interview

Last winter when casually searching the web as one does, I cam across two guys from Jacksonville, in Florida. Since then, their name has just kept popping up everywhere. DJ’s, producers, label owners and studio buffs, these guys just don’t go away! With a new release due out this August on Twijit Recordings, it just seemed like the right time to catch up with the busy duo behind PCSynergy and find out exactly what they are up to.

DHN: What does PCSynergy mean and who are they?

PCSynergy: Sum is better than one. Phil Green is the "P". Scott Petersen aka Catharsis is the "C". Brothers from other mothers. Everything We Do Is Music!

DHN: What are the goals and motives for PCSynergy & Soul Support Recordings?

PCSynergy: Fun and simple love for the music were the initial catalyst for us, like most. Ideally, a happy livelihood through the music and solid long-term opportunities would be brilliant. Freedom to keep on “keepin on”. Relocation is a big issue for us and our full potential hasn't been realized yet. We are chasing the dream and catching reality.

DHN: What labels have you worked with to date?

PCSynergy: Soul Support, Imperial Dub, Drenched, Robsoul,Twijit, Explicit Soul, Hed Kandi, Stay True, Eighth Dimension, Deep Funk, Hallucination Limited, Maximum Chillout, S Sens think that's it :)

DHN: What has been your own favourite track that you have released so far?

PCSynergy: Oh now, we are still learning and growing. Check back on that one.

DHN: As your career, exposure level, and personal experience grow in the music business, what were, and what are now your primary inspirations and motivation for making music?

PCSynergy: Hope! If you put so much inertia into a dream, you can't help but to have grand expectations which is a slippery place to be. Ohhhhmmmmmm! Music that moves us simply...It's either swingin, in the groove or not! Entertaining people who are listening and feeling "it", especially ones we know and respect. That's where it's @.

DHN: What is deep music to you?

PCSynergy: Organic Sounds, Live Instrumentation, More groove than edge, Elements of Jazz, Warm Currents.

DHN: What are you currently working on?

PCSynergy: Phil has been busy with studio clients. We have 4 records set to drop this summer, so we have taken a short break to regroup and start fresh.

DHN: What has been the highest point of you career to date?

PCSynergy: Bones thrown in the biz can be addictive. We strive to stay grateful 24 - 7.

DHN: To what do your attribute your success so far?

PCSynergy: Phil's talent as an engineer. We work well together, have our roles set and remain teachable. Faith, luck and practice don't hurt either.

DHN: You also run a professional recording studio Jax Trax, what is involved with that?

PCSynergy: Phil & his main partner Scott Collins met at Full Sail Engineering School in 1996. In 1999, they decided to break ground on a studio. Scott's wife manages a video editing and production house. Space upstairs became available which fit perfectly. The original studio was built behind a record store and PA equipment rental house. This new location opens up more opportunity. Clients include all genres, transfers, beats, tracking, practice space for bands, you name it. www.soulsupportrecordings.com/studio. It's a beautiful space built with love.

DHN: How have you seen your local music scene in Florida change as you have become more involved with music?

PCSynergy: Our local scene is challenging, all we can say. We hope for a more solid, informed, supportive market. It's hard to "sell the soul".

DHN: What are favourite aspects of what you do?

PCSynergy: Being interviewed, just kidding. Working with talented musicians and the stimuli that is created from that interaction. Playing out, traveling, seeing that big world out there.

DHN: And least favourite?

PCSynergy: Waiting, Struggle

DHN: Favourite songs of all time?

PCSynergy: We have only been on the earth for 30 years. A lot more listening and living before that question is honestly answered. Get back to you, Aine
This was fun thanks DHN!
